New for 2026: Sending New Voter Guides to newly registered voters

Black and white 2026 election voter planning sheet with sections for voter details, candidate info, mail-in ballot request, polling place, primary and election dates, and space for a friend's name.

Every year, millions of young people register to vote for the first time, but data shows that most of these new voters do not actually show up at the polls. It’s hard to start any new habit, and voting is no different: though 8 in 10 young people say they plan to vote, the majority of them don’t follow through.

These new voters clearly need more support, and that’s where we come in. By sending Voter Guides to newly registered voters—each with a personal note from a Vote Forward volunteer—we aim to help the next generation of American voters establish this new and important habit.
